As a labour and employment lawyer, Simon Mortimer’s practice is focused on the strategic management of conflict and change. Simon consults with clients to practically manage workplace issues without litigation or work disruption and, where that is not possible, regularly appears before Labour Boards (OLRB, CIRB) ensuring due process and democracy in Certification Applications, responding to allegations of Unfair Labour Practices and intervening, where appropriate, in Duty of Fair Representation complaints and Decertification Applications. In addition, Simon acts regularly as a negotiator for clients in collective bargaining and works with clients in employee communications. Simon also provides ongoing counsel on privacy, employment, human rights and grievance arbitration. He is a proud father of two and clients should be warned he likes to talk about his children!
