Christopher Riggs, Q.C., is a partner and was the firm's Managing Partner from 1994 to 2002. He received an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in 1963 from the University of Toronto and did graduate work in Labour Economics at Queen's University. He received his LL.B. from Queen's University in 1967, was called to the Ontario Bar in 1969, and appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1983. He practices exclusively in the area of corporate employment, labour relations and administrative law, with an emphasis on litigation. He has appeared in courts at all levels including the Supreme Court of Canada, the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Federal Court of Appeal. He is a past Vice-President of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and past Chair of its Labour Relations Committee. He served as Chair of the Labour Relations Section of the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario) and as a management member of the Minister of Labour's Task Force on Reform of the Labour Relations Act. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a leading practitioner in labour and employment law and workplace human rights in Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and the Lexpert/American Lawyer guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, and currently a member of the Advocates' Society and the Canadian Association of University Solicitors. Christopher is also listed in The International Who's Who of Management Labour and Employment Lawyers 2010 and Best Lawyers in Canada 2011 in the practice areas of administration and public law and labour and employment law. He is Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese Province of Ontario and lectures on labour relations matters at various institutions.
