Hicks Morley acts for a number of media clients, including the country’s largest private broadcaster and Canada’s leading national newspaper. Our advice and representation extends to radio, print, television and film clients, and our deep knowledge of the sector allows us to tailor solutions to our clients' needs on a full range of human resources issues.

The media sector has strong union representation, so a great deal of our work is in the labour relations area, from collective bargaining, to arbitrations, to advice relating to acquisitions and mergers. We regularly advise on the pension and benefits issues facing our media clients and we also provide advice on the structuring of employment contracts for media executives and on-air talent.  Our team of lawyers provides full representation of our media clients when disputes lead to employment litigation, human rights hearings or any proceeding before regulatory tribunals.

One of the emerging areas that we have extensive involvement in is the impact of technology and the Internet on the many jurisdictional issues relating to unionized work.
